Another year has come and gone and once again I find myself reflecting on the year that’s just gone. During the year of 2014, my 51st,I became Arcadians club secretary, we bought the “cabinchaletshet” renamed it the “Green House” and at other times visited various other places along the naturist and non naturist trail.
The year started with a new venture, the Essex Naturist Meet & Greet, which we started and had hoped would entice, closet naturists into the open at clothed gathering at pub venues. This we thought would hopefully encourage people to join BN and maybe also the three Essex naturist clubs Arcadians, Oakwood and Springwood. Unfortunately it never really caught on and towards the end of the year, it tailed off maybe never to return ? February was cold but saw trips to Norwich in Norfolk and especially for me it was a chance to visit the North Norfolk coastline.
March saw me doing work at the club, refreshing the paint in various rooms , while April saw the acquisition of the Green house. During this time we managed to start playing Petanque a rather good naturist game and spent the week leading up to Easter painting and repairing the chalet roof. It was good staying and not having to have to put a tent. This had advantages in turn as on one night in early April it was very cold and very frosty. It seem strange but very invigorating to trample across the frosty grass wearing nothing but a pair of flip flops en-route to making the morning teas and coffees.
During May we spent four weekends at Arcadians and the other staying over on Sunday night at Spielplatz and had enjoyable evenings each time. June saw more weekends at the club including an open weekend and also the strawberry tea, which consisted of good supplies of cake, strawberries and cream.
June & July saw a visit to Diogenes in Buckinghamshire, which was fun even though the weather was wet. French weekend at the Arcadians was warm and humid, if not exactly sunny, but again enjoyable. We visited Spielplatz yet again, for a joint M&G and also managed to visit Bradwell beach for a few hours and Covehithe in Suffolk too, where we spent a couple of hours au naturel.
August was a pleasant month spent doing things non naturist, this include a visit to Newcastle and another to Norwich to see Machine Head, we did however spend a nice few days at Broadlands, even though the weather was not exactly kind to us. During the four days we had there, we managed to visit Overstrand, Holkham, Bungay and also managed a trip on a boat from Wroxham along the River Bure.We also met another couple with the same names who we met up with later in the year.
September saw the “season finale “Mexican evening at Arcadians and while September was the driest September on record, the sun never really shone, for very long. The autumn was fairly dry as well and I managed to get out with the camera on visits to both Epping and the New Forests. The rains did come around Essex in November but it didn’t matter so much as temperatures plummeted.
All that left was a visit to Alton Towers for the BN Naturist weekend and a couple of concert weekends in Norwich, Lowestoft and one in London. This brought the year to a close as a bout of the flu laid me low for a week in early December. Once again my rambles here hopefully enlighten people to the joys of the naturist lifestyle and while we do other things too, its is a nice activity to look forward too. Hope your year was as enjoyable as ours.
Happy New Year !
